Thank You!
Thank you so much for all of you who are so willing to help. Thank you for the contact info that has been sent! More information about the reunion plans will follow, but probably not until after the new year! Committee Chairs and I will be working hard to put together the best reunion ever!
The list of class members I need information for has been updated. If you know how addresses to any of the people listed along the side of the blog, please send them to tihsclassof2000@yahoo.com so they can be forwarded to Jennifer Florek Campos. We don't want to forget anyone!

P.S. We'll try to do without fundraising!

Committees
Time is definitely not standing still and there is far more to do than not, when it comes to our class reunion. The meeting in Clayton was cancelled because only two people were able to come. This post is my last attempt at getting help from classmates to plan this reunion. If this fails, we will still have a reunion, but it will be much simpler.
In order to carry out the plans already discussed, a family day at the beach, followed by an Uncle Sam Boat Tours Cruise, I need four committees formed. I am looking for one individual to be chair of each committee. Please e-mail me if you are willing to do so. Committee Chairs will be selected on a first offer basis. Results will be posted 1 week from today (Sunday, October 11, 2009).
Here are the committees:
Publicity: This committee will be responsible for finding contact information for all classmates, sending out invitations, and advertising class reunion in newspapers etc...
Fundraising: This committee will be responsible for raising money to pay for the cost of down payments, publicity, and any other fees that may be incurred.
Uncle Sam Boat Tour: This committee will be responsible for planning, booking, and carrying out all details surrounding the Uncle Sam Boat Tour Cruise. If you choose to be chair of this committee, it is NOT your responsibility to pay for everything!!!
Family Picnic: This committee will be responsible for planning, booking, and carrying out all details surrounding the Family Picnic day at the beach. Some details include: food, beverages, entertainment, etc... If you choose to be chair of this committee, it is NOT your responsibility to pay for everything!!!
All committee chairs will communicate with each other and me through e-mail, to successfully plan our class reunion. Chairs are responsible for forming their own committees and may advertise in any way they see fit to obtain help!
Thank you for all of your help!
Class President,
Renae M. Eddy

Reservation
Thanks to those who participated in the vote and for those who have been helping me get contact information for classmates. Words can not express to you how thankful I am for the help. Planning the class reunion is a HUGE undertaking and almost impossible to accomplish by myself. With that said there is A LOT to do and I can NOT do it on my own.
Family Day
Poll results have concluded that we will have a family picnic style lunch at Cedar Point State Park. Each family will bring their own meal, snacks, desserts, utensils, plates, etc... This will make set up and clean up almost non existent! Hooray! Less work to do! Classmates also voted for no decorations, which eliminates the need for a decorating committee. Hooray again! I'm all about simplicity.
There are a couple of possible glitches that could interfere with our family day. I want to be sure to mention them. Cedar Point requires a $90 deposit on the pavilion when the reservation is made. I do not have an extra $90 to make this payment on my own. Another possible problem we are running into is that Cedar Point will NOT accept reservations for next year until the first work day after January 1, 2010. We need to book our Uncle Sam Boat Tour Dinner Cruise NOW. There is a possibility that we may not be able to reserve the same day. In that case we may have to look for somewhere else, or have the picnic the day before or the day after.
Other than those few minor details, everything looks good for our family day!
Uncle Sam Dinner Cruise
Unfortunately this part of the reunion is not as simple to plan. Uncle Sam Boat Tours offers many possibilities for a dinner cruise. Prices vary depending on the number of people in attendance. Since I have no clue at this point who is and who isn't planning on attending the reunion, I have no idea how much it will cost. The fewer people in attendance, the more it will cost, IF we reserve our own deck. If we do not reserve our own deck, everyone will pay a flat rate of approximately $40 for just the dinner cruise itself. This does not include other fees in the final reunion payment.
In order to make the reservation for the dinner cruise, a deposit of $200 is required. Again, I do not have an extra $200 to make this reservation. Therefore I do believe it's time to start taking deposits for our class reunion. Out of over 80 people in our class, I only have contact information for 25-30 people. This is NOT good! The poll showed people prefer to receive information through e-mail, but I have e-mail addresses for only 17 people in our class. I NEED more!
So this is where I am with class reunion plans. I really can't go much further without help from classmates and deposits. Reservations can't be made without knowing how many people are coming. Due to these circumstances I will be holding a Thousand Islands Class of 2000 Reunion Committee Meeting on Saturday, September 26th at 2 PM at my parents' home in Clayton. All classmates are welcome. For directions and any other questions, please e-mail me at tihsclassof2000@yahoo.com.
Listed on the side of the blog, below the poll is a list of classmates I do NOT have contact information for. If you have information PLEASE e-mail it to me at tihsclassof2000@yahoo.com. It's extremely important that I contact everyone!
Lastly, I am now officially accepting deposits for the reunion. A $30 deposit is required for each individual planning to attend the Uncle Sam Tours Dinner Cruise. Remember this part of the reunion is for adults only! A $10 deposit will be required for each family ONLY attending the Family Picnic. Please send yours ASAP! Deadlines will be announced on a future post! For information regarding where to send the deposit please e-mail me at tihsclassof2000@yahoo.com. Remember I can't make reservations until I have enough money to do so!

The Plan
Plans for the Class of 2000 reunion are officially underway. The consensus of classmates is to have a family day at Cedar Point and an Uncle Sam's Boat Dinner Cruise for adults only in the evening.
I will be making the dinner cruise reservation this month. Payment information and schedules will be posted soon. Cedar Point will not accept reservations until January. My calendar is marked to make the call the first working day in January to reserve the correct date.
I am hoping to keep the cost right around $50 per person, but may need to increase it a little depending on the cost of the cruise. It will be each class member's responsibility to prepay for the dinner cruise by a specific date. I will then be requesting a reservation deposit for the family day at Cedar Point. Please note that if I do not receive enough funds from you all to pay for these events, I can not pay for them by myself and the reunion will be cancelled or handed over to someone else in the class who would like to take on the responsibility.
I am in DESPERATE NEED of contact information for SEVERAL members of our class. If you have information for classmates and for YOURSELF especially, PLEASE send the information to tihsclassof2000@yahoo.com. This reunion CAN NOT take place if I don't have contact information for everyone!
Please take the time to fill out the survey along the side of this post. It will close on September 1st. Thank you so much!

Ideas
The poll is closed and the results are in. Sadly, only 20 people voted, but I'm not going to dwell on that. Good news is 65% of those 20 people plan on attending the reunion and 4% say maybe. Results of the poll show that we will have a reunion lasting 8 hours, part with families and part adults only. The decided attire is casual dressy. Most important though is how much classmates said they were willing to spend. An overwhelming majority voted for $50 maximum.
So this is where you come in. Using the results of the poll, I am looking for ideas for our reunion. Remember the entire $50 will not be spent on the event, but on invitations, decorations, and other fees we may encounter. I am guessing that 50% of our class will attend the reunion each bringing a guest, making our total budget about $4,000 for everything.
I will be accepting ideas until Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Please participate. This reunion is for you. I want to be sure you'll like it! For those of you who are not familiar with blogging, below this post you will see the word "comment." Click on that and then you can leave your comment for all to see. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then e-mail me at tihsclassof2000@yahoo.com with ideas. I can't wait to read them all. Thanks to all those who have participated so far!

What Do You Want?
My mind is going in a thousand different directions as I think about our class reunion. There are so many things to plan and do. The realities of planning this reunion are comparable to a wedding. Those of you who have planned a wedding can sympathize I hope. My husband and I planned a huge wedding and then ended up eloping because of the stress. Hopefully this time will go much better. With your help, I think it will.
There are many decisions that need to be made before a date is set for the reunion. Should just classmates and spouses be invited, or do people want to bring their children? Will the reunion be a couple hours or a whole day of events, with some aimed at families, and others just adults? How fancy should people dress? Do we want to dress up or just be casual? The biggest question of course is how much money is each person willing to spend for the reunion?
Along the side of the blog you will see surveys. Please vote. Your opinion matters. The surveys will be up for one week. Tell other classmates. Have them vote too. Once all the votes are in I'll announce the results and we'll go from there. PLEASE PARTICIPATE! Thanks!
Renae
P.S. If anyone has some old pictures of our class they'd like to share, I'd love to add them to the blog to brighten it up a little bit. The only request I have is that they are appropriate-no smoking (we were under 21), no drinking (again, we were under 21), and no nudity. Thanks!
